Edit Police

I made a new notice for you to put at the bottom of your user page...

EDIT POLICE
Go ahead... make all of those small edits to a single wiki page. I know the server and the hardware can handle the load, but you will definately know it irks me when I mention on your talk page how you're clogging the recent changes page!

Take my advice... plan out what you wish to add to your page and do it all in one big worthwhile edit. Also, USE THE 'PREVIEW' BUTTON and make sure you have it perfect before you save. Don't give me a reason to get all 'bad cop' on you!

I'm glad you like it :-P

I would suggest not going 'bad cop' on new wiki users. Alot of them are new to wikis and are slowly learning how to edit them through trial and error. Who knows, maybe they'll eventually become a major editor someday if they don't get scared away first! So... the best people to go 'bad cop' on are the ones who do lots of edits on a single page day after day after day... you know who they are! For new users, just give them a single "please use the preview button" suggestion.

Templates

I just glanced at your Level X Items and Creatures template and think it could be altered a bit to fit everyone's differing hunting styles... Best Hunting Setup, Defense Based Hunting Setup, Armor Based Hunting Setup, Second Best Hunting Setup, Full Defensive Setup, Full Armor Setup (those last 2 are more for offline use). I'm sure I could come up with a few other suggestions.

I am also considering making some changes to my Quest template. Specifically, I'm thinking about putting a bar across the top (template) that contains lvl, starting point, and any requirements to start. The rest of the information would stay more or less the way it already is. Any comments or suggestions on this?

Did you mean to separate the template into a few more pages? Or just to revamp the whole template to fit these setups? Either way, it can be done.
The Quest idea should make it easier to know if you're able to do the quest. I support this idea, and I have a suggestion - that is, if you're going to put a bar on top, make the top part a stand-out colour, like red.                  CHiNback - [ Talk - Message - PM ]
Check out how the remade quest template looks when used for Venomous Thoughts. Colors could potentially be altered a bit, but I think it looks pretty good.
For your level x items and creatures template, I suggest putting the creatures at the top above the items. Other than that, keep the setups as two rows of 3 across in the order I mentioned above. You might add a few other things to the setups such as the amount of a certain statistic needed to make that specific set viable against the creatures listed. You could also add in potions and buffs. If you want me to work on it, let me know. Otherwise, I'm going to leave this as your project.

Span Tags

Span tags are very similar to div tags in their use, except they can be applied to a specific portion of the text instead of a complete paragraph, page section, etc. As far as I can tell, their primary function is for the application of CSS. I have sprinkled span tags liberally throughout this paragraph to demonstrate their use as well as a div tag around the entire section.

Copying User Pages

I am trying to think of a good compromise here... Charging for your services to make someone a user page is fine, but trying to restrict the use of the code goes against the copyright license used by this wiki so technically we cannot enforce non-usage of our code. It was primarily the threats to remove posts using your code that led me to post the notice at the bottom of my user page.
However, I think it may be possible that we, as a group and as some of the primary contributers to the wiki, take a stand against copying someone's code without permission or without giving attribution to that user for their original contribution. This would require us to decide on a list of rules/requirements that would apply to everyone in the group, and a template we can post at the bottom of our user pages to let everyone else know about the standards to which we hold ourselves. A thorough listing of what adhering users can and cannot do would be posted on the template page.
Therefore, I suggest the following:
  • Users will not copy another's code without permission or giving attribution.
  • Users will not use another's code and claim it as their own (excepting major layout changes, css?, and very basic code arrangements).
  • Users are free but not obligated to charge for the service of creating another's user page.
  • Restrictions would apply to non-game information pages only (users/players & guilds). Pages for items, creatures, etc, should be freely copyable to maintain a bit of uniformity for game related information.
So there you have it... my suggestion about how we can deal with the concerns we all have concerning our user pages and the effort we put into making them. I think this is a good idea and with some discussion, would be worth attempting.

Suck up! ;-P
I like the title you give me, but putting my name and then your talk, message, pm links next to that may be a bit misleading if you get what I mean.
