Help with User Page
Question
I may have found a way to make my tab area smaller, but I need to know if theses div classes will work in this Wiki. Here they are. div class="NavFrame", div class="NavHead", and div class="NavContent" I have found on another Wiki they did it by using these 3 div classes and other codes to go along with them. I have not used scripts in the html pages I have built unless it was copied from another code so I am not to versed in that type of programing. That is why I ask alot of questions dealing with that type of coding. I also have not gotten into the more advanced programing styles. All I have done is just the basic type of Web page programing and the WIKI is different then that so I am learning how to program in that way since some of what I do know of HTML programing does not work or works in a different way. If the above div classes will not work then I think I may have a way to do something like what has been done on the other Wiki.

- Let me know the page/other wiki and I'll take a look at it to see if it would work here. In the meantime, without knowing the code behind it, I am very likely to say no, it won't work.

I tried coping the code from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_User_Page_Help/Do-It-Yourself/Formatting_Text#Text_formatting under the heading Show/Hide sections and placing it between the tags <nowiki></nowiki> but it all ran together so I just deleted it here in your talk page. But I do have a copy of the coding at User:DavidAHare/Test Page Section A.

- I looked at the instructions for that atWikipedia:NavFrame and can say it's not going to be available, at least until I'm looking for another project to work on. It requires editing the css and javascript that's used on the entire wiki and that's not something I'd do without at least testing it awhile first in a controlled environment. In the meantime, we do have collapsible tables which is essentially the same thing.

Thank you for the information. You gave me another way to do something like that. The other way I thought of was to make seperate pages for the 5 different Sections to my profile with the Collapsible funtion and put each tab page on there. By doing this I can program different colors and I am more versed with this way. I will experiment with Collapsible_tables to see what kinds of differrent formats/ways of displaying information with them. I also found <div style="width:50%; height: 150px; overflow:auto; border: thin solid blue; background: white"> </div> which puts a scroll bar on the page which I know works on this Wiki since I have already tested it. I am going to use it on my pages to see if I can shorten the displaying length on some of my pages. I am also trying to get an upgrade computer to do what you did with the server and the Wiki where you were able to test your pages on your computer before saving them to this wiki. The proble I think is the references to information in this Wiki i.e. the Items and creatures, but I will deal with that latter.

- I did notice the scrollbar you tested. That might come in handy for some pages.

I tried different ways that I knew how to put the scroll bars side by side but could not get it to do it. I finally gave up and did not save any of the code. I was able to make the scroll bars smaller in width by using the width = 50%. I will try later to put them side by side.

- If you take a look at your page, you will see that I fixed it for you. I even left a comment in your code to let you know what you had forgotten.
— Belgrave, Moderator / Sysop Talk Message PM
You did not have to fix it. I was coming back to it after I played a little. I was using what you have in your Wiki Tips which I copied about leaving it for awhile and then coming back to it. I was also wondering on the templates that you built for the Items and Item sets that the Item Set Stats were not included like the old syle template that I originally used and you switched to the new style. It does not bother me which style I use. They both have the same information except for when the item is in a set there is no set statson the page anymore.
DavidAHare,Talk • Message • PM 00:06, 17 September 2008 (BST)
- I removed the set stats from the item pages since they were redundant with the information on the item set pages. Also, it greatly reduces the code in Template:Item. As for your page, I was only responding to what you wrote on there about not being able to figure it out. I don't mind making the occasional small code fix as long as I don't have to make the whole page. I'm pretty good at finding those small errors!

I understand now about the Item Set Stitem set stats. I Hope you take what I wrote above the wrong way. I was just following some of the tips you wrote and you repeated them to me awile back. I do appreciate you fixing the problem. I do not know if you noticed but I like to try things out and see if I can do them before I ask for help and sometimes I don't ask for help. That is why some times I get into trouble because I do not ask for help. I also like to leave notes about stuff so when I do come back I know what needs to be worked on. Again I thank you.

- Don't worry about it. Anyway, if you didn't know it yet, we did get Extension:ParserFunctions this week so now we can do detailed templates. For a fun time and if you want to see some of the things this allows, take a look at the code in Template:Item...
— Belgrave, Moderator / Sysop Talk Message PM
So we are to use this template instead of the other one I have been using. Also does this template take in to affect if an item has been hellforged. Also I wanted to know if there are some large images around like the one that is at the top of the player profile pages in the game. I am looking at possible usingan image as a backgrouond if the wiki will allow that. There was something else I wanted to ask but I do not remember it so I will just send this on its way.
DavidAHare,Talk • Message • PM 01:33, 18 September 2008 (BST)
- Template:Item does not show hellforged stats, but can show crafted stats and has a link to another page that can show the hellforged stats if someone puts on Template:HFCalc or Template:HFCalcCrafted on it with all the item's stats. Yes, I did manage to make a working hellforge calculator for the wiki!
- I do not know what image you are talking about on the top of in-game profile pages. The only image I know about is the big banner at the top of all the game pages. Also, there is no way to use background images on the wiki.
— Belgrave, Moderator / Sysop Talk Message PM
I have the big banner image that is on the game pages at the top of my profile pages. I will have to take a look at Template:HFCalc and Template:HFCalcCrafted to see how to use them. I am not sure what Extension:ParserFunctions does so I am going to go do an internet search and see what I come up with. If it seems that my messages do not make since I did not get any sleep last night. I sometimes get into these no sleep fits and thenm it hits me where I can't keep my eyes open so I am going now.

Question Is it possible to take the tab type menu and combine it with the collapisible class to show like a menu area where you could choose different areas. i.e User:Belgrave and then have inside when you press show Wiki Hints and Tips And Links. I have not tried to work on this but I think in away I was trying to do it with just the collapisible function on my test page where you can see it is not working out very good. Any input is appreciated and I am not wanting you to write the whole thing I am just asking if it can be done. I tried using what you told me I left out in the scroll bars side by side code.

Min MAX Crafted statistics
Hello, I don't think this is a good idea for 2 reasons. First, the pages code is becoming too complex and second, the quality label of a craft is related to the total gain compared to the uncrafted item. So basicaly, for most items with multiple crafted statistics, the minimum value for any stat is the bas euncrafted value for up to average or good items. I think it is better to give a "typical" value (and warn than actual values may vary...). Well, just my own .02€.

- This isn't too bad an idea, but keep in mind that the values are there to have a more accurate result.
CHiNback - [ Talk - Message - PM ]
- It's mostly the way it is to show the available range of values for that specific level of crafting. If we tied it to a specific value, then someone would have to sit down and calculate an average, something which is hard to do without a very large sampling. I have considered adding a calculator that does that into the template, but then again, it's still reliant on the min and max available values for each stat in that crafting level. As for the page's code, it's complex inside Template:Item, but since the template is working, it's easier for people to contribute since they only have to fill in the blanks.
