Details

You find the bodies of Salhat's team. They are only partly covered by the fresh snow. Judging from the way they have fallen they were fighting a huge creature. You can hear a faint cry on the wind. It sounds like Salhat, but you can't be sure.

You find Salhat lying bloodied in the snow. 'We were so close... so close. We heard... that the Prince's Shaman, Trisnn... was hiding to the North West. Got attacked... Glacial Giants. Find her and find the Prince! End this...' Salhat closes his eyes for the last time, and his body goes limp in your arms. You carefully lay him down, vowing to continue his quest. But first, those Glacial Giants must pay for what they have done.

The sounds of battle and flashes of magic attract your attention. Sneaking closer you see a Yeti Shaman fighting a Drift Spirit. They are evenly matched, trading blow for blow. The Shaman spots you watching her. With a slight smile she grabs one of her totems, breaks it with one hand, and focuses the pure blue energy at the Drift Spirit vaporising it instantly.

She looks at you. 'I might be. If you are looking to kill me then you already know how powerful I am. Do you think you can take me?' She raises her staff to strike. You lower your weapon and try to explain why you are here.

'Salhat was a good man. What he said is partly true. King Yarlung claimed power two months ago. Since then he has been taking control of everything. He wants to have absolute power over the country and is throwing all the old beliefs away. Prove to me that I can trust you, and I'll tell you more. Drift Spirits have weakened me, kill the last few nearby so I can regain my strength.'

Shaman Trisnn is sitting the middle of a small clearing. Around her are wards and protective sigils. She appears to be in a deep trance.

Stepping forward you break twigs under your feet. Trisnn's eyes snap open and you can see a half-formed spell on her lips. Recognising you, she backs down. 'Thank you. I've been able to rest. That's the first time since we fled the Fortress. I think it's time you met the Prince. Carry on to the forest. You'll find him there.'

You turn towards the Alpine Forest and begin walking. The Prince will have answers you think as the fresh snow crunches softly beneath your feet.

The Yeti Prince is waiting for you in a small grove. He must have heard you coming from quite a distance. 'Trisnn told me you were coming. You've caused quite a stir here. What do you want from me?'

'Is that all? Well, that I can do. My brother recently inherited the throne. Since then he's tried to change the way we live. Bringing in new ideas and devices, but they are destroying the land! Culling any creature that gets in the way, or cutting down this very forest. We can't live like this! What are we going to do once the forest is gone and all our food supplies are gone? What then?'

'We must return to the old ways. They have kept us safe and prosperous for generations. If you help me, you will be rewarded generously. Meet me in the thicket outside the Fortress and give me your answer there.' Before you can reply, Prince Kissl has disappeared in to the forest.
