You see the familiar purple of Jamesina's Spell Shield. Around the shield a hunched figure paces. As you draw near you see a gray man with a gaping hole in his chest prodding the magical ward with his sword. Testing its strength. He eyes up the Seer with a hungry look.

The Scourge of Corinth is still in your hands from your flight from the vengeful Spirit Army. You strike at the foul zombie with the long spiked chain. It coils around the thing as if alive. The spikes piercing the flesh and taking biting deeply. You know instinctively that it you pull back you will tear him apart.

You rise you elbow to pull the Scourge when Jamesina suddenly cries out. 'Hold Hunter!'

You freeze, Virmalthorn steps close to the edge of the pulsing field and stares at the Warrior. 'You have sharp eyes Seer. I see that weapon has an effect on incantations, the spell is slipping from the Undead before you.' The gray man gives a shuddering moan and collapses to his knees. His blood flows freely over the Scourge around him.

You let go of the whip and draw your weapon, then advance on the kneeling Warrior. His face snaps up and terrified eyes stare back at you. 'I'm sorry, I just don't want to die. I need a heart. But they keep on being consumed within me. I suppose I should just let go. But I just don't want to die.' You look at the man's eyes. They are no longer shining green, but are normal human eyes. Virmalthorn whispers behind you, 'I see the spell dampening has ceased when you let go of the whip. I will assume that he will live for a short time. Shame really, as he now is aware of what he has become.'

Tears stream down the warriors ashen face, but he does not struggle to get up. Virmalthorn steps through the Shield. It hisses as he escapes its grasp. He bends down and inspects the Warrior closely. He then scribbles something onto a scrap of parchment and hands it to you. 'We can help him you know. If you wish to do so, return with the Ravenous Heart.'

Vilmarthorn talks softly to the zombie warrior before him, 'Have you decided to help this Warrior and make the Ravenous Heart?'

Hope lights within the Warrior, he stares at the heart held by the Skeletal Priest. He seems torn between revulsion and avarice. Vilmarthorn takes a boney finger and traces something into the dark flesh. He hands Runed Heart back to you, 'This is an extreme Necromantic weaving. I have a feeling that it is unfinished. You should look around and try to find another recipe that might complete the Spell. I feel a strong presence within the next Realm. I would search there.'

You here a complaining whine echoing through the Murk. You follow the annoying sound and find a robed figure reading a scroll intently.

The robed figure flinches at the sound of your voice, 'Are you here to check up on me?' Then he looks at you, 'You don't look like one of my tutors.' then a sly look comes over him. 'I guess that you are not part of the Death Cult. You are a treasure hunter I bet. If so I can tell you where a valuable scroll is hidden, but you must do a favor for me first. I need a Wraith Scythe, but I can't get the components. Bring me one and I will return the favor.'

The Whining Adept looks up from his scroll, 'Have you got the Wraith Scythe yet?'

He takes it from you, 'That’s excellent, you know there is a Death Cult Library just within the realm?' He waves his hand over you and you feel a sudden sense of vertigo. 'With that you should be able to enter the Library. That is if you service the Wraiths. Good luck to you, treasure hunter.' He smiles up at you and dissapears off into the Murk. You should check out this Library, there might be something of use to you.'

Virmalthron talks soothingly to the Zombie Warrior, 'Have you found something that will finish the Necromantic Weaving?'

Virmalthorn takes the spinning vortex from you. The Zombie Warrior shrinks from it. Virmalthorn suddenly reaches for him and slams the Consistancy into his chest. The Warrior shudders for a moment then blinks up at him, utterly confused. The Skeletal Priest lifts him gently to his feet, 'How do you feel?' The Warrior gazes around for a moment, 'I feel fine, for the first time in decades.' Virmalthorn hovers his hands over him. Then he whispers, 'I see, you are basically your own person. I surmise that the Dreadlord didn't wish for fully sentient Warriors as they can be rather difficult to manage. You will need to feed on human flesh, but it can be dead rather than living. Eating dead humans seems to be slightly more acceptable to them, rather than eating them when they are alive. There is much less screaming as well, which is always a bonus.'

Virmalthorn then unwraps the Scourge from him but it disintegrates into a heap of broken links. 'It seems that your blood also has become corrosive. That's interesting. I would love to chat longer with you but we have a task to do. I would also council you to make yourself scarce. When those who weaved the spell find out that you have your own mind it could go badly for you. Choose your way carefully Undead. From now on you make your own destiny. Always remember, that it was a Mortal that helped free you.' The Zombie Warrior nods, smiles at you - then turns and walks away.'
